Whether you wear clip in, pre-bonded or weft extensions, how you appear after them is important in maintaining your hair and keeping it within the most effective condition.
These helpful suggestions will assure that you simply care for your extensions correctly when washing and styling.
Firstly, it is important to use products that are equipped for dry hair. Although a lot of extensions are made from 100% real hair, they are able to still become dry because they are no longer attached to the scalp. Therefore items that will prove to add moisture towards the hair must be used to stop them blow drying and damaged.
Washing
Brush your extensions before washing so that they do not become tangled. Utilizing a soft bristle brush, gently start at the ends of the hair and come up. Always use a shampoo and conditioner that will add moisture to give the extensions a longer life.
A good tip is by using tepid to warm water (never hot) and always tilt your face back to wash. After washing, pat dry and gently squeeze your hair but remember never to rub, massage or twist because this can cause damage.
Finally, to dry them, blast the roots having a cool heat to dry the bonds before styling. When drying clip-in hair extensions, again use a cool heat.
For all those using clip-in extensions, you should only have to wash them once you have worn them around 4-6 times. Before washing, brush the extensions to remove knots and soak in warm water. Allow the water run-down your hair from the clips and use a shampoo and conditioner designed for dry hair.
Gently run your fingers in the clip end downwards to clean the extensions. But don't scrub or twist. Pat dry with a towel and gently brush to get rid of any tangles. Finally, store them with the clips closed to avoid any tangling.
Styling
Much like your real human hair, be mindful when styling hair extensions to protect them from heat and styling damage. A heat protector is important when styling, to ensure that there's less damage when blow drying, straightening and curling. A specific heat product for hair extensions will be most appropriate.
Start by separating your hair to prevent matting, and brush hair gently with a hair extension brush. Spray heat protector on each section before styling. Always blow dry hair on a low, cool setting.
It's also worth noting that you should not apply wax and oil close to the hair extension bonds. If locks are becoming a little dry and damaged, make use of a serum to bring back damaged hair and smooth split ends.
A top tip is to braid hair loosely at night to prevent the extensions becoming tangled. If you exercise, tie your hair up and if you swim, always wear a swimming cap as chlorine damages extensions just as it does your personal hair! A good tip is to coat your hair thoroughly having a combination of water and conditioner should you frolic in the water, and wash thoroughly afterwards, applying an ample quantity of conditioner.
